Dear Carlson Families,
Thank you for attending parent-teacher conferences this week. We appreciate your involvement in your child’s education and value your partnership with us. Communication between home and school should not be limited to conferences. I would like to invite and encourage you to reach out to your students’ teachers’ at any time. If you were unable to attend a conference this week, your student’s teacher will be happy to reschedule.
On Monday, October 31st at 2:00, students will participate in the annual Miner Street parade and Trunk-or-Treat. The businesses along Miner Street have once again generously offered to provide candy and decorate for this fun event. Our community’s first responders and our own PTA are some of the other organizations that will be sponsoring trunks full of treats. Families are encouraged to come and watch or join the procession.
This year, our 6th graders are working with Mr. Martin on a Spook-tacular Musical Performance that they plan to share with us along the parade route.
Do not wear costumes to school. Students will change before the parade.
Students need to be able to get into their costumes quickly and independently.
No full face masks, because they pose a safety risk.
No blood and gore.
No weapons of any kind, real or fake.
Shout Out To Our Amazing Community!
As I write about our wonderful Idaho Springs community and their generous support of the Trunk-or-Treat parade, I am reminded of all the local businesses that have already donated to Carlson this year. I would like to thank the Vintage Moose for providing free hot dogs to families at our back-to-school night; Beau Jo's for providing free pizza to families at our family orientation night; and Tommy Knockers & Safeway for feeding our teachers during parent-teacher conferences. Their generous donations have helped us to nurture our school community and enriched our events tremendously. Thank you!
Lost & Found
Hopefully you had a chance to look through the Lost & Found collection during parent-teacher conferences. In a week, we will be cleaning out the Lost & Found and donating unclaimed items. You are welcome to stop by the school if you’re looking for something. If you have been prompting your child to bring home a jacket, lunchbox, sweatshirt, etc., and they keep forgetting, please give us a call. We would be happy to help your child look for a missing item.
If you ordered school pictures, they should be coming home next week. Picture retakes are scheduled for Tuesday, November 1st. Order forms for retakes will go home next week, too.
Redesign Feedback Request
The city of Idaho Springs is considering a redesign of the Idaho Springs Sports Complex to include a skatepark. Please complete this community input survey to help them with the process.
Looking ahead, our winter concert is scheduled for Tuesday, December 13th at 6:00 in the Carlson gym.
